" And this I say for your own profit; not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction." 1 Corinthians 7:35 NKJV

Let's face it. We are a busy people. This world in which we are living is fast-paced. Many times we always find ourselves running to the next thing, checking off the next item on our to-do list--doing all of it at a breakneck speed. While there is nothing inherently wrong with being busy in and of itself, it can become troublesome when our busyness becomes an unhealthy means of coping. This form of coping leads us to become distracted by whatever issues, or insecurities we need to face. It is the enemy's tactic to keep us from doing the very things God has for us. The enemy's reason is to steal, kill, and destroy. Consequently, he will use any method no matter how subtle to keep us from living a life that pleases and honors the Lord.
In contrast, God wants us to be busy in His business. He wants us busy in His Word, busy in prayer, and busy serving others. He does not want us to live a distracted life, but He does want us to live a sober-minded life keeping our eyes focused on Him and living for His purposes. He not only wants our hearts but our minds as well. He knows us, He made us, He loves us and He wants to lead us. He cannot lead if we are serving two masters and we are too busy to recognize it.
